Here is how to start using Notes Extractor in your environment. The success in the implementation passes through the implementation of a number steps, performed in a specific order.
The different steps for the configuration and use of the application are as follows:
- Step 1 : Install the NotesExtractor database on the server or on local
Copy the NotesExtractor.nsf database into a Domino server and perform the usual administrative actions (Signing, modify ACL, etc...). You might also choose to install the database on local in the \data directory of your Notes client.
- Step 2: Install the NotesExtractor executable on the server or on local
Place the NotesExtractor.exe binary (which and be found in the Installation / Install Files view of the NotesExtractor.nsf database) on the Domino server, in the Domino Program directory, or on local in the Notes Program directory of the Notes client. If the installation is done on local, you can use the button, which can be found in the Install Files view.
- Step 3: Create one or more Activation Key documents / Procedure for generating database ReplicaID file
If you have been supplied with an activation key, you should create an Activation Key document in the NotesExtractor database (in the Installation / Activation Key view) and enter the activation key into it. If you do not have an activation key, this step is not necessary. In the event that you have several activation keys (for example one per product for: NotesExtractor, SynchroNSF, SynchroLDAP), then you should create as many Activation Key documents as you have keys.
If you need to send to Cooperteam the Replica IDs of all targeted databases in the export process, please follow the following procedure:
-
-
-
- Open the view : Extraction / Settings,
- Create a Setup document using the "Create Export Setup" button (as explained in Step 4 below),
- Select all the necessary options to prepare the export and save the document,
- Select the document in the view, then under the "More" button, click on the "Collect Database ReplicaID" option, see below example:
- You will be prompt to select a local path and file name to save the text file containing the relevant information that need to be sent to Cooperteam.
- Please sent the generated file to Cooperteam (if you don't know the contact, please use support@cooperteam.com)
-
-
- Step 4 : Create a Setup Document
Create a Setup document in the NotesExtractor database (from the Configuration / Export Setup view) in order to define the location of the databases to be converted, as well as the selected conversion options.
Before advancing to Step 5, it may be necessary to perform the required steps for creating 'users and servers reference' using the SynchroNSF and SynchroLDAP tools. Please refer to the optional steps at the end of this document to understand whether this will be mandatory for you.
- Step 5 : Run the Task and Verify the Creation of the Export Files
Select the Setup document and run NotesExtractor (use the button from the Configuration / Export Setup view). The application will select the set of the databases to be converted and for each one, it will create a folder on the hard disk containing all of the XML / HTML / XSL files representing the data extracted from the database. These folders are created on the machine where the executable is hosted.
Once the program has run, check in the Extraction / Export Log view for the presence of a log document the details of the operation just performed.
Open the export folder to check for the presence of the files and sub-folders:
Then double-click the Index.html file to access the results of the conversion using any Internet Browser, as shown in the example below.
Note: Please read the article "Recommendations for browsers" to get information on the potential modifications to be made to correctly visualize the generated rendering.
