    Dear John,

I would like to make sure of some things I have read in the Release Notes:

"Improved Detection of Citrix users" & "Correction of the new release number of the DskMgrStart database after an update" & "Synchronization enhancement between the DskMgrStart and DskMgr databases of the applied

PROFILE list when they are inherited from the Setup document (via the Precedence column)":

    1) We had some cases recently where the the profile especially for Citrix users was not applied. The setup document was correct and the only condition on the inherited profile was to be a Citrix user. The user was successfully detected as Citrix user which I confirmed by opening the user document in the User-DB, however the condition was ignored or the detection was done too late - anyway, the profile was not applied. My work around was to apply it manually, but of course this cannot be considered a final solution. I cannot possibly check every new user if s/he got the correct profile as stated in the setup document.

    2) Several cases showed us, that  the users did not receive ANY of my centrally made upgrades such as new location templates, new profiles. For example, we were putting the IE as default browser in the std. loc. doc. and wanted to switch to exclude this field from synchro so that each user could choose whatever they wanted as std. browser. Up until now, I find users that have the IE defined and when you delete the location document, the DskMgr puts it back in the old format although the template has been changed months ago. My workaround was to delete the DskMgrStart.nsf and to re-open from the server to get a fresh one. From then on, the users receive the correct documents.

My question, do you think these enhancements are related? Will they eliminate these errors?

We are all keen to get the new version soon, so please keep us up2date when we can finally download it !!!

Thumbs up for the Eclipse detection & the enhanced uninstall agent!

    All the best & regards,

    Susanne

Ah, one more thing, what is the "Detection of the changepassword window" about? I did not understand this function...?

    Thank you in advance!

    Greetings!

    Hello Susanne,

Glad to see that customers are carefully reading the release notes :)

    1. The DM function dmIsCitrixComputer in the DskMgrSubLib (Script Library) has been changed, we now check a Windows API function called "GetSystemMetrics", before, we were reading the windows environment variable Path. The pilot customer testing this new Citrix detection was much more satisfied by this enhancement, so we kept it.

    2. We did improve the synchronization between the local Start and the associated Desktop Manager database. I am not sure if this will help to solve your location issue. It's also possible that you might select more loc. fields to be excluded. I propose you to create a test 2.7c database to check on one for few pilot users if this issue is solved or not. If not, please, open a case.

    3. "Detection of the changepassword window" about?

This is to answer to a specific issue : If the Change Password window was opened during a FullMode of Desktop Manager, when the splash screen close itself, it was closing the Change Password window instead.

    Hope this helps,

    Best Regards,
